# The commercial solar installation process, step by step

A commercial solar project runs through a clear sequence: a free energy assessment, a tailored proposal, design and DNO approval, installation and commissioning, then ongoing monitoring and maintenance. Under a PPA, the provider manages every stage, so disruption to your operations is minimal.

## 1. Assessment and proposal

We start by understanding your energy use, site and goals, then produce a tailored proposal with a clear rate and expected savings. This is where your consumption data and site details shape an accurate design.

## 2. Design and DNO approval

The system is engineered for your roof or land, and we handle Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval — the permission needed to connect generation to the grid. This step protects the network and is a normal part of any commercial project.

## 3. Installation and commissioning

Our team installs and connects the system, typically with minimal disruption, then commissions and tests it so it performs to specification from day one.

## 4. Monitoring and maintenance

Once live, the system is monitored and maintained so it keeps performing. Under a PPA this is fully included, so you get the savings without the upkeep.

## Frequently asked questions

**What is DNO approval and why is it needed?**

The Distribution Network Operator manages the local electricity network. Connecting on-site generation needs their approval to keep the network safe and stable. We manage this for you as part of the project.

**How long does installation take?**

It varies with system size and site, but most commercial installations are completed in a matter of days to a few weeks once approvals are in place. We plan works to minimise disruption.
