# How to switch to a solar PPA (step by step)

Switching to a solar PPA does not mean changing your electricity supplier. You keep your grid connection and simply add on-site solar generation that you buy through the PPA — reducing the power you draw from the grid. The process is a free assessment, a proposal, installation, then immediate savings.

## You keep your existing supplier

A common misunderstanding is that a solar PPA replaces your energy supplier. It does not. You stay with your supplier for any grid power you still need; the PPA simply adds cheaper, self-generated solar alongside it.

## What switching actually involves

We assess your energy use and site, design a system, handle the funding and DNO approval, then install and commission it. From the day it goes live you start using solar power at a rate below the grid.

## What you need to get started

Ideally your site address, around twelve months of consumption data, your current rates and contract end date. With that we can build an accurate proposal — but we can begin with less and refine as we go.

## Frequently asked questions

**Will switching to a PPA interrupt my power supply?**

No. You keep your grid connection throughout, so there is no interruption. Installation is planned to minimise disruption, and the solar simply reduces what you buy from the grid once live.

**Do I need to wait until my energy contract ends?**

Not necessarily. On-site solar works alongside your existing supply, so you can benefit before your grid contract ends. We will advise on the best timing for your situation.
