Commercial battery and BESS systems need servicing to stay safe and hold their capacity. Maintenance checks cells, connections, cooling, firmware and the management system, and confirms safe charge and discharge. PPA Funding does not carry out the work; we introduce you to a vetted battery specialist for a no-obligation quote.
Why battery systems need maintenance
A battery is an active electrical and chemical system, not a sealed box you can forget. Cells age and drift, connections loosen and heat up, cooling fans and filters clog, and the battery management system needs its firmware and settings kept current. Left unchecked, capacity fades and, in the worst case, safety margins shrink.
Regular servicing keeps the system storing what it should and running within safe limits, which protects both your investment and the site. A neglected system can also breach the terms of its warranty or an insurer.
What a battery service checks
A provider reviews the state of health and charge across the pack, inspects terminals and busbars for heat or corrosion, tests the cooling and ventilation, checks alarms and protection, and confirms the management system, firmware and safety cut-offs are working. They also verify the battery is charging and discharging as programmed, all to the relevant standards.
They will also read the event and alarm history, since a battery often logs warnings well before a fault becomes obvious on site. Battery chemistry matters here, so the checks on a lithium system differ from an older technology.
Keeping storage and solar working together
On many sites the battery is tied to solar and to a tariff or export arrangement, so a fault or bad setting can quietly cost you money as well as resilience. A specialist can check the whole setup behaves as intended and flag where the configuration could work harder for your business.
To arrange a service, tell us the make and size of the battery and how it is used, and we pass your enquiry to a specialist who can quote for a one-off check or an ongoing plan.
PPA Funding is an independent introducer — we do not carry out the work. Tell us about your site and we will source and vet a suitable specialist, who quotes and contracts with you directly. No obligation. Request a quote →
Frequently asked questions
How often should a commercial battery be serviced?
It depends on the chemistry, make and how hard the system cycles, but an annual check is common, with busier installations serviced more often. A specialist will recommend an interval based on your equipment and the manufacturer’s guidance.
