Operations & Maintenance

Protect your investment with proactive O&M

Delivering long-term energy savings goes beyond installation. Good O&M keeps solar PV and battery storage running at peak efficiency, safety and return — included for the life of your PPA, or arranged through a specialist we source for your site.

Solar Operations & Maintenance (O&M) keeps a commercial solar and battery system performing — through remote monitoring, cleaning, inspections and prompt repairs. Under a PPA it is fully included by the funder. If your system was installed by someone else, PPA Funding sources and vets a specialist for your site and passes on your enquiry.

Why O&M matters

Optimise, protect, perform

Whether O&M comes included with your PPA or you are arranging it for a system you already own, the aim is the same: keep the asset generating, safe and compliant. Below is what a full O&M regime covers.

Maximise energy generation

Proactive maintenance and cleaning helps avoid system downtime and ensures your site benefits from the maximum solar/battery yield.

Protect your investment

Regular inspections, performance monitoring and fault detection preserve system health and output.

Ensure compliance & safety

A documented O&M regime keeps a system meeting its DNO, insurance and manufacturer warranty conditions — and keeps the evidence in one place.

Extend asset lifespan

Targeted preventative maintenance, component health checks and timely repairs extend the life of panels, inverters and batteries.

Part of the service

Monitor, maintain, maximise

1

Remote monitoring

Real-time system oversight to identify issues early and maintain optimal output.

2

Scheduled maintenance

Regular site visits for inspections, cleaning, system testing and preventative maintenance.

3

Reactive support

A route to a qualified engineer if the system faults or output drops unexpectedly.

4

Transparent reporting

Simple performance updates and insights to keep you informed and in control.

Maintenance & servicing

O&M services we connect you with

Already have solar, battery or EV charging on site? PPA Funding is an independent introducer — we do not carry out the work. Tell us what you need and we will source and vet a suitable specialist for your site, then pass on your enquiry so they can survey and quote you directly.

Solar panel cleaning

Commercial solar panels lose output as dust, pollen, bird mess and grime build up on the glass.

Learn more

Solar panel maintenance

Planned solar maintenance keeps a commercial PV system generating by checking panels, wiring, inverters and mounting before small faults become costly.

Learn more

Inverter servicing and replacement

The inverter converts your panels’ DC power into usable AC and is the part most likely to fail over a system’s life.

Learn more

Solar panel repairs

Storm damage, cracked glass, failed connectors, chafed cabling or loose mounting can all knock a commercial array offline or cut its output.

Learn more

Solar PV health check

A solar PV health check is a full inspection of a commercial array that reports on its condition, safety and performance.

Learn more

Thermal imaging inspection

Thermal imaging, often flown by drone, finds hot spots, faulty cells, failed diodes and bad connections that the eye cannot see.

Learn more

Performance monitoring

Performance monitoring watches a commercial solar system’s output day to day, so a drop from a failed string, dirty panels or an inverter fault is caught in days rather than at the next bill.

Learn more

Battery storage maintenance

Commercial battery and BESS systems need servicing to stay safe and hold their capacity.

Learn more

Solar panel bird proofing

Pigeons and gulls nest in the gap under solar panels, leaving droppings, blocked gutters and chewed cabling.

Learn more

Solar maintenance contract

A solar maintenance contract, or O&M agreement, sets planned visits, monitoring and an agreed response to faults for a fixed annual fee, so upkeep is handled rather than left to chance.

Learn more

Fault finding and diagnostics

When a solar system stops generating or output drops, diagnostics trace the cause, whether it is a tripped isolator, a failed string, an inverter fault or bad connections.

Learn more

Electrical testing and EICR

Periodic electrical inspection and testing checks that a commercial solar installation is still safe: wiring, isolators, earthing, protection and the inverter connection, with the results recorded on a report.

Learn more

Ground-mount solar vegetation management

Overgrown grass, weeds and scrub can shade the lower rows of a ground-mounted array and cut its output.

Learn more

Solar carport maintenance

Solar car-park canopies combine a steel structure, panels, drainage and often EV charge points, so they need more than a panel clean.

Learn more

EV charger maintenance

Workplace and fleet EV chargers need routine servicing, electrical testing and fault repair to stay safe and available.

Learn more

Solar farm O&M

A ground-mounted solar farm needs planned operations and maintenance to keep generation and revenue on target.

Learn more

Rooftop solar safe access

Maintaining a rooftop array safely means proper access and fall protection for anyone working at height.

Learn more

Panel removal and refit

When a roof under an array needs repair or replacing, the panels have to come off and go back on.

Learn more

Solar decommissioning

At end of life, or when a building changes use, a commercial solar system needs taking safely out of service and removing.

Learn more

Solar repowering

An ageing array can often generate more with new panels, modern inverters or added battery storage.

Learn more

Emergency solar repairs

When a commercial system trips, sparks a fault or is damaged by a storm, it needs a fast, safe response.

Learn more

Warranty claim support

Panels, inverters and workmanship usually carry warranties, but claiming on them can be involved.

Learn more

Solar O&M takeover

When the company that installed or maintained your solar has vanished, the system can be left with no support.

Learn more

Solar maintenance planning

Planned maintenance means scheduled visits that keep a system healthy; reactive means fixing faults as they happen.

Common questions

O&M FAQs

Is O&M included in a solar PPA?

Yes. Under a PPA the provider owns the system and includes all operations and maintenance — monitoring, cleaning, inspections and repairs — at no extra cost. You get the savings without managing any upkeep.

What does solar O&M cover?

Typically remote performance monitoring, scheduled inspections and cleaning, preventative maintenance, fault detection and reactive repairs, plus the records that keep a system compliant with its DNO, insurance and warranty conditions. Exactly what is included varies by contract — check the scope before signing.

How often do commercial panels need cleaning and servicing?

It varies with location and dust or pollution levels, and UK rain does much of the cleaning. Monitoring flags when a clean or check is due, so servicing is driven by actual performance rather than a fixed, unnecessary schedule.

Can you arrange maintenance for a system another company installed?

Yes — by introduction. PPA Funding does not carry out maintenance itself. Tell us about your site and system and we will source and vet a suitable specialist, then pass on your enquiry so they can survey, quote and contract with you directly.
